Affiliate and Alumni Meetings

AAOS welcomes groups at the AAOS 2021 Annual Meeting to request meeting space in the various hotels near the San Diego Convention Center. Due to an increase in the number of meetings and events that overlap educational sessions, we are asking all groups to schedule their meetings/events outside of educational sessions whenever possible. The Academy is supportive of these meetings/events as they add value to the overall experience of the Academy meeting.

Affiliate/Alumni groups of 15 people or less may request meetings over educational sessions. All other groups must follow the guidelines below.

Guidelines for Affiliate and Alumni groups conducting meetings over educational sessions:

Tuesday:

  • Breakfast meetings must end by 8:00 AM
  • Lunch meetings may be held between 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Receptions may begin after 6:00 PM

Wednesday:

  • Breakfast meetings must end by 8:00 AM
  • Lunch meetings may be held between 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Receptions may begin after 5:00 PM

Thursday:

  • Breakfast meetings must end by 8:00 AM
  • No meetings during the Business Meeting 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Lunch meetings may be held between 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Receptions may begin after 5:00 PM

Friday:

  • Breakfast meetings must end by 8:00 AM
  • Lunch meetings may be held between 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Receptions may begin after 5:00 PM

 

  • Any solicitation, sponsorship(s), or industry events is prohibited
  • Breakfast meetings must end by 8:00am
  • Groups may not charge a registration fee or sell tickets to their meeting/event
  • Groups may not title meetings as "Annual Meeting, Educational Conferences, Seminars, or Workshops”
  • Due to the limited available space, AAOS cannot accommodate staff offices, all-day room requests, or groups of 5 or less people.
  • If a vendor is required for your event, an official AAOS Vendor Partner must be used
  • Journals and publication meetings should be scheduled outside of educational sessions.
  • Luncheons must be held between 12:30pm – 2:30pm on Thursday
  • Meetings are limited to Board, Committee and/or Luncheons
  • No meetings are to be scheduled Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm due to Academy events
  • Offering CME credit, apart from Specialty Society Sessions, is prohibited
  • Receptions must begin after 6:00 pm on Tuesday or 5:00 pm Wednesday thru Friday
  • The Marriot Marquis is not available for affiliate-alumni meetings.
