Breakfast in the Posters - an Annual "Wake Up" Tradition

Start your Friday morning right with Breakfast in the Posters! From 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, visitors to the Academy’s poster area will receive a complimentary continental breakfast as they view award-winning posters and scientific exhibits. During the event, awards will be presented in 14 categories and to the best overall poster.

This year, nearly 600 posters cover 14 different orthopaedic topics. Special posters from the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) are included in the Adult Reconstruction Hip, Adult Reconstruction Knee, Foot and Ankle, Hand and Wrist, Shoulder and Elbow, Spine, and Tumor classifications. The best posters from the ORS can be found in poster numbers 546 to 555. Allied Health posters are numbered 573 to 575, and posters from Japan, this year’s Guest Nation, are numbered 563 to 572.

AAOS poster presentations feature the latest scientific research and provide a unique opportunity for self-study. If your schedule does not permit a visit during Breakfast in the Posters, the posters are open for viewing in Academy Hall, Moscone West, Level 1, daily through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Poster presenters and authors will be on hand daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to answer questions and to discuss their research.

This year, for the first time, the AAOS is enhancing educational opportunities through audio-enhanced posters and guided tours of the poster exhibits. Audio narratives are paired with a blog that encourages dialogue between viewers and presenters. The audio will be a narrative of the poster recorded by the poster presenter and offered on playback by as the attendee views the poster. The blog will enable viewers to question the authors, creating an ongoing dialog.

Tours are led by an expert in the field who will review highlights of the top posters in each classification. More information and sign-ups are available at the Poster/Scientific Exhibit Information Desk. The poster area also features workstations with tablets where attendees can view the ePosters and hear the audio.

A complete listing of posters is available on pages 213–278 in the Annual Meeting Final Program.
