OREF expands opportunities

Spirited giving stimulates new grants and awards. Today, the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) offers a much more diversified menu of funding opportunities for a broader audience than ever before. Since 2001, OREF has introduced the following grants and learning forums that have already made a positive difference:

  • The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Resident Journal Club grants, which help hundreds of clinicians in training learn how to read and analyze scientific articles and understand the mechanics and rewards of orthopaedic research
  • Medical Student Summer Orthopaedic Fellowships, through which young people can test their level of interest and aptitude for orthopaedic investigation
  • OREF Clinician Scientist Awards, which offer crucial support for some of the world’s most promising young researchers
  • DePuy Orthopaedic Resident Education Grants, which each year provide $5,000 to 15 residents to help advance their scholarship while adding to the orthopaedic knowledge base
