Explore Active Education Experiences at learn.aaos.org

A variety of interactive education experiences—including video, self-assessment and self-paced activities—await you on the new AAOS online learning platform.

In less than one year, more than 5,400 members have visited the online learning platform, and claimed more than 40,000 continuing medical education (CME) credits. The Academy received feedback and used your input to shape the platform’s features and content. It now brings learning to a whole new level—offering a variety of interactive learning modules and experiences to test your knowledge and hone your skills in a number of areas.

The Orthopaedic Video Theater collection, including nearly 700 surgical technique videos, is now available via the online platform, offering better navigation and search functionality.

These videos, presented by top experts, demonstrate techniques and approaches from across the orthopaedic landscape. And now, more than 200 videos include CME.

You’ll also find the full collection of AAOS self-assessment examinations (SAE) on learn.aaos.org. These include the OKU 12 SAE, special interest exams in 11 topics, and the 2017 Orthopaedic In-Training Exam (OITE). An exciting new feature is the Build-A-Quiz study tool, which enables you to customize your own exams and take shorter, personalized tests after you complete a Scored and Recorded exam experience. The self-assessment experience now becomes personalized to your way of learning.

The platform also hosts completely new AAOS offerings. AAOS Practice Prep Plans are rigorous, nine-week online plans that guide you through relevant and essential content. Each one structures your study and review with nine modules including videos, self-assessment questions, quizzes, recommended readings, and more. These plans are selected for you by leaders in each orthopaedic specialty from the vast collection of AAOS resources in adult reconstruction, pediatric orthopaedic, and foot and ankle. They offer 65 CME and are a great value.

Surgical Procedures and Techniques Learning Modules are another new offering. These fun and quick microlearning modules help you improve your skills and clinical-decision making with new and unique education experiences. They are developed from the Academy’s Advanced Reconstruction series, and best of all, the Surgical Procedures and Techniques Learning Modules are available free to AAOS members.

With the online learning platform, AAOS continues to deliver complete learning experiences in exciting new formats to meet your educational needs. With more personalized and practice-relevant educational experiences all in one place, you can learn like never before. Visit the AAOS Resource Center in Academy Hall B, and follow the signs to “LEARNING HAPPENS HERE,” for a personal demonstration. Just for Residents

One of the biggest improvements the AAOS online learning platform brings is for residents. Customized experiences are designed to help residents improve their understanding of specific orthopaedic topics and perform better on their Orthopaedics In-Training Exam and Board Exams.

ResStudy includes more than 3,700 questions available in a quiz-builder format and offers enhanced score reporting for directors and coordinators.

The AAOS and Musculoskeletal Tumor Society partnered to create the Musculoskeletal Oncology Review: Clinical, Radiographic, and Pathologic Overview and Treatment Principles. It offers on-demand, virtual learning with experts in musculoskeletal oncology and includes five modules and 38 lessons packed with videos, interactive learning elements, clinical cases, and knowledge-check questions.
