Partnership brings Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care, 5th Edition, to China

Through a partnership with the Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (CAOS), Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care, 5th Edition, will be available in Chinese for the first time. Led by CAOS president Prof. Yan Wang, more than 50 CAOS member translators worked diligently to make the Chinese edition possible.

“Good patient care comes from continuous high-quality education of young surgeons,” said Prof. Wang. “Last year, CAOS launched the standardization of residency and specialty training of Chinese orthopaedists. May the introduction of a masterpiece like AAOS’ Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care have a life-long positive impact on the more than 150,000 orthopaedists in China, and more around the world.”

The ebook and accompanying videos will be posted on the CAOS digital education platform, available to all Chinese orthopaedic surgeons. The Chinese edition of Essentials will launch during the 2017 CAOS Annual Meeting in Guangzhou, China, May 11–14. AAOS will take part in the launch of this valuable resource with an exhibit booth at the meeting.

Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care has been an important resource for North American primary care physicians, allied health professionals, orthopaedic surgeons, and others in the orthopaedic field for 20 years. This trusted resource is sought after by physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, physiatrists, internists, osteopathic physicians, rheumatologists, pediatricians, sports medicine specialists, athletic trainers, kinesiologists, primary care physicians, medical students, and residents.

“The translation of the recently published Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care, 5th Edition, into Chinese is an exciting step for orthopaedics, allowing the AAOS to share crucial orthopaedic information with many more of our healthcare colleagues,” said AAOS First Vice-President William J. Maloney, MD. “We thank the Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons for its work in making this valuable resource available in Chinese.”
