JAAOS Now Accepting Research Articles

Respected review journal expands focus

The Journal of the AAOS (JAAOS)—the foremost clinical review journal of musculoskeletal education in the world—is expanding its editorial profile to include balanced, clinically focused original scientific research studies and case reports.

“This extension of JAAOS content is a natural way for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons to meet the changing needs of a broadly distributed membership and the global scientific community,” said William N. Levine, MD, JAAOS editor-in-chief.

A special research section appeared in the December 2015 issue, and another such section is featured in the March 2016 issue, which is being distributed at the AAOS Annual Meeting. All papers undergo the journal’s standard, rigorous peer-review process, and all accepted articles are published in both print and online formats, searchable on PubMed, and indexed in MEDLINE.

Jeffrey S. Fischgrund, MD, former JAAOS editor-in-chief has been named editor, Research, and will handle all submissions to this new category of material.

“We undertake this new initiative as part of our ongoing commitment to give you the highest-quality material, promoting advancement in the science of orthopaedics,” said Dr. Fischgrund.

Copies of the March issue of JAAOS are available in bins throughout the Orange County Convention Center or from the AAOS Resource Center.
